Work should be started on networkable PIR sensors in the near future.
The basic idea is to set up a bunch of PIR sensors in most, if not all rooms in the space, to detect movement in various locations. These PIR sensors will be connected up to the Arduino side of an Intel Galileo. With a stack running on the Galileo, the Galileo will provide logging and monitoring capabilities, and as a result both live and historical motion data will be available over an API at the space.
This data can be used for:
- Automatic lighting in areas of the space
- Foot traffic logging
- Space 'open/closed' status
- Graphing, determining the most used areas at certain times of the day, etc.
